Certifications must be renewed every three years in DEQ’s Certification Accreditation Tracking System (CATS). Contact hours can be acquired from DEQ and other organizations or companies and must be relevant to the certification. 

Registration for DEQ's continuing education courses is available in ELMS on a quarterly basis. The full schedule is provided here for your planning purposes.

Where the Water Goes (virtual)

This two-day virtual course (8:30am - noon) reviews hydrology and plan reading skills for erosion and sediment control and stormwater inspector. The course provides a basic understanding of hydrology going from a macro (or landscape) scale down to the micro (or building site) scale.  After the class, students should have a basic understanding of items such as: hydrologic cycle; contour lines and critical slopes; drainage areas; water flow on a site; erosive force and sedimentation dynamics; hydrologic design principles used in BMP design; and inspection considerations.
