To protect Virginia’s natural resources and create a healthier environment, DEQ issues permits to businesses and local, state and federal facilities. These permits limit pollution in order to protect our air, water and land.

For projects that will create air emissions: Federal Operating Permits  General Permits Major New or Modified Source Construction Major New Source Review Permits New & Reconstructed Major Sources of Hazardous Air Pollutants (Article 7) Permits Prevention of Significant Deterioration State Major Permits State Operating Permits	For water withdrawal, wastewater and stormwater discharges and impacts to streams or wetlands: VPDES Virginia Water Protection Surface Water Withdrawal Nutrient Trading Mitigation Banking Virginia Pollutant Abatement Groundwater Withdrawal Stormwater Management	For projects that will manage waste: Hazardous Waste Management Regulated Medical Waste Solid Waste
