The Virginia Small Business Environmental Assistance Program was established to help small businesses understand and comply with the Clean Air Act and Virginia's environmental air regulations.

Sources are eligible to participate in the program if they:

  • are owned or operated by a person with 100 or fewer employees
  • are a small business as defined in the federal Small Business Act
  • are not a major stationary source
  • do not emit 50 tons or more per year of any regulated pollutant; and
  • emit less than 75 tons per year of all regulated pollutants.

Here you can find basic environmental compliance and sustainable business information including industry-specific best practices, regulatory guidance, training, and funding opportunities for new environmental technologies.

The Office of Small Business Assistance is dedicated to helping small business owners and operators learn about current and new regulatory requirements, understand the operational impact of these requirements, achieve environmental compliance and reduce emissions.

Virginia is also a member of the National Small Business Environmental Assistance Program, which is a national network of resources for small businesses.
