Notice Purpose: To seek public comment on a draft permit from the Department of Environmental Quality that will allow the release of treated wastewater into a waterbody in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Applicant & Facility: Indian Cove Resort Association, Inc., 1053 Sandbridge Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23456.

Project Description: Indian Cover Resort Association, Inc., has applied to the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) for the re-issuance of a permit for treated domestic wastewater, discharged from their municipal wastewater treatment plant that serves a seasonal campground in Virginia Beach, VA. The applicant proposes to discharge at a rate of 0.038 million gallons per day (MGD) into Hell Point Creek, tributary of North Bay in the Chowan and Dismal Swamp watershed. A watershed is the land area drained by a river and its incoming streams.   The permit will limit physical and chemical properties, bacteria, nutrients, organic matter, inorganics, solids, metals, and flow to amounts that protect water quality; sludge will be pumped and hauled by a septage hauler to an HRSD WWTP in Virginia Beach, VA.
