DEQ is the state's lead agency for developing and implementing statewide nonpoint source (NPS) pollution control programs and services to prevent degradation of the Commonwealth's water quality and quantity. As such, the agency acquires and disburses various federal, state and nonprofit grant funds. DEQ administers the money to fund watershed projects, watershed roundtable activities, implementing TMDL Implementation Plans, demonstration and educational programs, and nonpoint source pollution control activities. DEQ also develops technical resources and materials that can be used throughout the Commonwealth of VA to assist in addressing water quality issues associated with the sources of nonpoint source pollution.
