To promote and facilitate communication and collaboration, the Virginia CZM Program helped establish the Virginia Abandoned & Derelict Vessel (ADV) Work Group. This work group has brought together the US Coast Guard, Navy, local and state governments, law enforcement, marina managers and other stakeholders to discuss for the first time the many environmental, economic and human safety (navigational) impacts and solutions to abandoned and derelict vessels.

The Virginia ADV Work Group and its subcommittees met throughout 2021 and early 2022. All recordings from the Zoom meetings can be found on Clean Virginia Waterways' YouTube channel. Links to download meeting notes and handouts can be accessed on the Clean Virginia Waterways website

In July 2022, the Virginia ADV Work Group released it's report.
