All permitted solid waste management facilities that treat, store, or dispose of solid waste are required to report by March 31 of each year the amount of solid waste, by weight or volume, received and managed by the facility during the preceding calendar year.
The following solid waste categories are to be identified in the report:
- Municipal solid waste
- Construction and demolition debris
- Industrial waste
- Regulated medical waste
- Vegetative and yard waste
- Incinerator ash
- Sludge
- Tires
- White goods
- Friable asbestos
- Petroleum-contaminated soil
- Other special waste
For each such category the report shall include an estimate of the amount that was generated outside of the Commonwealth and the state or local jurisdictions where such waste originated. The report shall also estimate the amount of solid waste managed or disposed of by recycling, composting, landfilling, incineration, sending offsite for further management, and stored on site on December 31 of the reporting year.
The annual report should also include information on the available capacity and expected life of the facilities along with any facility’s economic benefits to the locality.
SWIA Annual Reporting
Facilities are encouraged to complete and submit their annual SWIA report (DEQ Form 50-25) via the DEQ online application. The deadline to submit the SWIA report to DEQ is March 31 of each year.
The hardcopy of the DEQ Form 50-25 can be found here.
